Manchester United have contacted Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, 24, to ask to be kept aware of his availability, as doubts grow about him moving to Bayern Munich this summer. The Poland international is an alternative target if Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, 28, cannot be convinced to return to Old Trafford.

What’s the story? United have admired Lewandowski for a long time but his heart is set on Munich,Does it make sense? Yes. They don’t lose anything by being keep aware of the situation, which Borussia Dortmund have completely misplayed, and if they somehow could persuade him he’d be a wonderful welcome gift for David Moyes.Is the price right? £30m is about right given this is the last year of his contract but Dortmund would probably take less to get him away from Munich.Will it happen? 1/10 – Can’t be ignored but he’s going to Bayern either this summer of next barring a dramatic swing in mindset.
