Antoine Griezmann calls Manchester United 'perfect' for Paul Pogba, drops hint on his own future

Frenchman Antoine Griezmann has spoken about compatriot Paul Pogba’s world record transfer to Manchester United and believes that the club is ‘perfect’ for him.

Griezmann also sounded optimistic for the club under new manager Jose Mourinho in the Premier League campaign.

Furthermore, he revealed his connection to the no. 7 jersey which come from his love for David Beckham, a Manchester United icon. Fuelling speculation to a move to England, he continued by not denying the possibility of a move to the Premier League. Earlier, Manchester United were rumored to have tabled an offer for Griezmann before the Euro 2016.

"I think the supporters in England won't be disappointed," Griezmann the Guardian. "They can expect the spectacular from Paul. He deserves it, he works hard and he has the talent to be such an important player.

"He loves that league. Manchester [United] is the perfect club for him, with Mourinho they are making something new."

Griezmann, who scored a staggering 39 goals in 67 appearances for club and country last season, gathered interest from Manchester United before they sealed the deal to bring Zlatan Ibrahimovic from PSG.

Although still at Atletico Madrid, he may have dropped a hint by expressing his willingness to play in the Premier League later in his career, revealing his admiration for former United legend, David Beckham.

"I liked him a lot," he added. "He was my idol, that's why I wear a long-sleeved jersey and wear the number seven.

"Why not [move to England]? If I am out of contract with Atletico I would ask myself that question."

Presently, Griezmann seems to be determined on getting over the loss of two consecutive finals, “There was a lot of emotion, a lot of tension, it can leave you very tired. Two finals where we were so close to our target and close to getting the trophy. It just wasn’t the time. But I am not going to stop there. I will keep working to play in a final and win. In fact, I am more determined to win.”

Griezmann and Paul Pogba featured together in France’s heart-breaking Euro 2016 campaign at home. While Paul Pogba made his first full start against Southampton, Griezmann was ineligible for Atletico Madrid’s season opener due to suspension.

Ronaldo, Bale, Messi, Suarez, Griezmann and several other superstars will compete for the UEFA Best Player in Europe award.
