Chelsea Player Ratings

Edouard Mendy - 6/10

Mendy made a couple of excellent saves in the second half, but his kicking was suspect all game.

Reece James - 4/10

He couldn't deal with Martinelli and Tierney on his flank and conceded a penalty when he brought the Scot down. His crosses from the right flank were all awful as well.

Kurt Zouma - 5/10

Zouma should have been stronger against Lacazette, and not allowed the Arsenal striker to link up with the other attackers.

Thiago Silva - 6/10

Thiago Silva was the best Chelsea defender on the night, but that wasn't a high bar to reach. He should have scored late in the game to make it 3-2 and set up a grand-stand finish.

Ben Chilwell - 5/10

It looked like the effects of the injury he suffered on Monday were still hampering him. Like James on the other side, he couldn't deliver a single telling cross either.

N'Golo Kante - 5/10

In the first half, Kante was overwhelmed by being isolated against Smith Rowe and Xhaka. With Kante's influence not being felt, Chelsea never really had control of the game.

Mateo Kovacic - 5/10

Kovacic was taken off at half-time, and perhaps a little unfairly so. He dribbled really well through midfield and took up some nice positions but left Kante isolated during Arsenal's attacking transitions.

Mason Mount - 6/10

Mount hit the post with a free-kick in the first half, and won the penalty that Jorginho missed.

Christian Pulisic - 6/10

Pulisic did find joy running at Mari in the first half, but that changed after half-time, when Lampard took Werner off.

Timo Werner - 4/10

This is now ten games without a goal, in all competitions, for Werner. Starting from the left once again, he couldn't pose any threat to Leno.

Tammy Abraham - 6/10

Abraham scored a good goal late in the game, but largely was second-best in his duel against Mari.

Substitutes

Jorginho - 5/10

The penalty was a big moment, to test Arsenal nerves late in the game but Leno read Jorginho's intention and saved easily.

Callum Hudson-Odoi - 6/10

His direct running brought Chelsea their goal, as he got to the byline on the right flank before crossing to Abraham.

Kai Havertz - N/A

Havertz was brought on r late in the game.
