Arsenal loan Joel Campbell to Villareal
Arsenal have agreed to let Joel Campbell join Spanish club, Villareal, on loan for the rest of the season. Cambell made just seven appearances for Arsenal this season and was the subject of abuse by Arsenal fans after the team lost at Stoke City.
The Spanish club’s centre-back, Gabriel Paulista, is on the verge of joining Arsenal permanently and another deal between the two clubs is a sign of the strength in their relationship.
Campbell is no stranger to La Liga though, having spent time with Real Betis. However, continuity is a thing that eludes the Costa Rican as Villarreal will be the fourth club he has joined on loan since moving to London in 2011.
He has yet to start a Premier League game for the Gunners, With the return of Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott from injury, the Costa Rica international’s time on the pitch would be limited further and that is the reason behind Arsene Wenger sanctioning his loan move.
