Atletico Madrid confirm they are willing to re-sign Diego Costa from Chelsea

Is Diego Costa on his way to La Liga?

Liga BBVA giants, Atletico Madrid, have confirmed that they're interested in taking Chelsea striker Diego Costa back to the club if the chance presents itself. The Brazilian-born Spanish international has been a hit for the Londoners helping them win the Premier League title last year.

Costa left Atletico in the summer of 2014 to join Jose Mourinho's Chelsea but his former President, Enrique Cerezo, insists that a former player always interests the Madrid club.

"We have a great relationship with our past players," Cerezo told Spanish radio station Cope.

"Diego is a great player, but a Chelsea player. We will try to do our best and see what Chelsea say, it does not depend on us.

"We always try to bring the best players and Diego is one of them."

The 27-year-old – who won the Liga BBVA and reached the final of the Champions League – has so far has won a League Cup and Premier League title in three years at Chelsea with the current season a nightmare on every level. It is perhaps of this reason that a move back to Spain has been continuously touted in the media.

Tough schedule ahead for the Blues

The Premier League defending champions first host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge before hosting fellow strugglers, Newcastle United. The Londoners then travel to Paris to play Paris Saint-Germain in a round-of-16 Champions League game.

Chelsea then return to London to host high-flyers and title contenders, Manchester City. Just like Manchester United and most Premier League sides, Chelsea will play a total of four games across a span of fourteen days.
