A representative from La Liga team Atletico Madrid has flown to London on Sunday with hopes to sign Chelsea‘s star playmaker Juan Mata on a season-long loan.
According to ESPN, Diego Simeone, said: “You are all very well informed, and know lots of things that I have not told you. We will keep working in these last days of the market – we hope more coming in than going out.””
The former Argentinian midfielder is said to be in search of an attacking midfielder to strengthen his squad’s offense as the club’s interest in Wolfsburg’s Diego and Fiorentina’s Adam Ljajic resulted in disappointment.
Atletico boss is said to be keen on retaining the services of Adrian Lopez, on whom the club has put a €15 million price tag on. He also lauded Lopez on his recent performance against Rayo Vallecano, which the Madrid based club won comfortably by 5-0.
Simeone, when asked if the reports of the club’s interest were true, just used a no-comments stance giving rise to speculations that one such move might be on cards if the parties involved can come to a mutual agreement.
He faced the cameras after his team defeated their fellow counterparts Rayo with much ease with goals coming from Raul Garcia(2), Tiago Mendes, Diego Costa and Arda Turan who scored one goal each.
