Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa has denied that he has agreed a deal to sign for Premier League outfit Chelsea at the end of the season.

The Brazilian born striker, who was recently included in Spain’s World Cup squad, has been in excellent form for Diego’s Simeone’s outfit throughout the season and has been linked with a number of high profile clubs across the continent as a result.

Although reports that emerged earlier in the week suggested that the west Londoners had stolen a march on their rivals and finalised a £32 million move for the 25-year-old, Costa has rubbished the rumours, report The Sport Review.

“People say a lot of stupid things,” he declared, when questioned over the potential agreement.

Atleti are on course to claim the La Liga title and also have the small matter of a Champions League final to contend within the next few weeks, so it is unsurprising the Spaniard wants to remain focused on the remainder of the season.

However, Blues boss Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his admiration for Costa and remains in the hunt for a physical forward that is capable of leading his front line next season.

“Is a striker target for us? Yes. We’ve never denied that. Is Diego a good player? Yes, but he is an Atlético player,” the Special One recently insisted.
