Thibaut Courtois - 7/10

Thibaut Courtois made an excellent save from Lionel Messi in the first half and was a reliable presence in Real Madrid's goal. The Belgian shot-stopper surprisingly did not have much to do against Barcelona and will be please with his performance.

Raphael Varane - 7.5/10

Raphael Varane has not been at his best over the past few months but vindicated himself with a convincing performance today. The French defender was a solid presence in Real Madrid's back-line and will grow in confidence after his outing against Barcelona.

Sergio Ramos - 7/10

Sergio Ramos was not comfortable against the likes of Ansu Fati and Lionel Messi in the first half but upped his game after half-time and repelled Barcelona on several occasions. The Real Madrid captain took his penalty with an ice-cool finish to put his side ahead after a controversial VAR decision.

Nacho - 5.5/10

Nacho struggled against Philippe Coutinho and Jordi Alba today and was caught out of position as the Barcelona left-back raced forward to set up his side's first goal. The Real Madrid defender was replaced by Lucas Vazquez before half-time.

Ferland Mendy - 7/10

Ferland Mendy has been a revelation this Real Madrid this year and was excellent with his ball retention against Barcelona. The French left-back was selected ahead of Marcelo for this game and is likely to keep his place in Real Madrid's starting line-up.

Casemiro - 6/10

Casemiro struggled to cope with Barcelona's attractive link-up play in the first half and was booked for a tackle on Lionel Messi. The Brazilian midfielder did stop Lionel Messi in the penalty area with a crucial tackle but will need to take it up a notch under Zinedine Zidane.

Toni Kroos - 6.5/10

Toni Kroos kept the ball well for Real Madrid and allowed his side to dominate the ball in select periods of the game against Barcelona. The German midfielder should have been on the scoresheet but was denied by two excellent saves from Neto in the second half.

Federico Valverde - 8/10

Federico Valverde had an excellent game and opened the scoring for Real Madrid with a brilliant goal within five minutes of the kick-off. The Uruguayan midfielder hassled Barcelona's attacking players and his runs into the box caused several problems for the Catalan defence.

Marco Asensio - 6.5/10

Marco Asensio covered plenty of ground against Barcelona and used his quick feet to keep the ball on a number of occasions. The Spanish winger was well-marshalled by Jordi Alba and Frenkie de Jong, however, and did not make an impact in the final third.

Vinicius Junior - 6/10

Vinicius Junior was outpaced and outmuscled by Sergino Dest today and did not find much joy on the left flank. The Real Madrid winger did threaten with his diagonal runs but has plenty of work to do on his final product.

Karim Benzema - 7/10

Karim Benzema bagged an excellent assist for Real Madrid's opening goal with a pass that scythed through the Barcelona defence. The French striker was unusually quiet for the remainder of the game, however, and failed to find the back of the net with only the goalkeeper to beat in the first half.

Lucas Vazquez - 6.5/10

Lucas Vazquez replaced Nacho towards the end of the first-half and complemented Asensio well on the right flank. The Spanish wing-back gave a good account of himself and made a few forwards runs in the second half.

Luka Modric - 7/10

Luka Modric was brought on for Federico Valverde in the second half and won the ball back for his side on several occasions. The Real Madrid midfielder sprinkled salt into Barcelona's wounds towards the end of the game with an excellent goal to put the tie to bed.

Rodrygo - 6/10

Rodrygo was brought on as a late substitute as Real Madrid looked to take full toll of Barcelona's desperation. The Brazilian forward showed plenty of initiative and troubled the Catalan back-line.
