Alexis Sanchez has been linked to a sensational move to the Etihad stadium this summer.

The Chile international has not been outstanding at Barcelona and is expected to be off-loaded come the end of the season. Manchester United have also been linked with the player but Roberto Mancini is looking to make the first move. Manchester City need someone in the wide areas and Sanchez looks just the right option.

With Adam Johnson’s sale to Sunderland and Scott Sinclair’s future being uncertain, the Citizens have been weak in flanks, which has also been exploited several times.

Sanchez could help City with their problems in the flank. He could easily fit into the 4-3-3 formation, which the club have used to good effect.

Mancini has had a failed effort of signing the former Udinese player in 2011, only to lose out to Barcelona. Last summer another City target, Eden Hazard, joined Chelsea from French side Lille.
