Barcelona News: 'He is a star' - Lenglet praises Griezmann amid Barcelona links
What’s the story?
Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet is in awe of Antoinne Griezmann and has labelled the Frenchman as one of the best players in La Liga as speculation of his move to Barcelona gathers momentum.
In case you didn’t know...
The Atletico Madrid forward revealed earlier this month his intention to part ways with the Rojiblancos. He would be making a switch in the summer transfer window and has been linked with a move to FC Barcelona ever since.
Griezmann was poised to join the Catalans last summer but ended up staying in the Spanish capital. He then announced his decision to remain in Madrid through a controversial documentary, 'La Decision'
The heart of the matter
Lenglet, who is in line to make his international debut this month was full of praise for his national team-mate, Griezmann as he said:
"Griezmann is one of the three or four best players in La Liga"
"He is a star and he has been in the competition for several years. He has scored many goals every season.
"He is the star of Atletico and also one of the great figures of the league".
The Barcelona defender believes that the 28-year-old is one of the best players in the Spanish top flight and scores loads of goals to help his side each year.
The former Sevilla defender, when asked on his view on the situation implied that Griezmann has just announced his departure and has not made any decision on his next destination but hopes he joins Blaugrana.
"Griezmann has said that he is leaving Atletico, but not where. We still do not know what team he will play with," he said.
"We will have to wait, but we are all attentive to when he will announce it."
Barcelona are the front runners to sign the Frenchman ahead of the next campaign, much like they were poised to sign him in the previous transfer window. Manchester United are also said to be interested in acquiring the services of Atletico Madrid's star player as they look to revolutionize their squad before the start of the next season.
