#3 The Mbappe-Neymar connection is special

Neymar has now received ten league assists from Mbappe since joining PSG in 2017.
Neymar has now received ten league assists from Mbappe since joining PSG in 2017.

Ever since the PSG pair joined forces in 2017, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have struck a deadly attacking partnership. That was at its peak against Bordeaux as the pair combined twice in the first half to tear open the hosts.

The Frenchman assisted both goals. The first of them was a sublime cross to the far side that perfectly picked out Neymar, who cut inside and produced a fine finish into the far post.

PSG's second goal, though, was even better. The prolific duo exchanged quick passes in an awe-inspiring attacking display before Neymar once again fired a low drive.

The understanding between the two PSG players is at the next level. They seem to know their movements and attacking game well. That bodes well for PSG as they look to reassert their domestic supremacy.

#2 PSG nearly pay the price for complacency

PSG fizzled out after scoring their third goal.

After going 3-0 up, PSG took their feet off the pedal. They slackened off in attack, and their passes became reduced to pointless kneading of the ball.

Such complacency nearly cost them late on. Bordeaux, who'd been knocking on the door all night, pulled two goals back, which set up a grandstand finale at the Matmut Atlantique.

Danilo was responsible for the first goal. He cheaply gave the ball away before the Girondins caught their mighty visitors napping, hitting them on the break in a sublime counter-attacking move.

Although time was almost up until then, PSG were forced to wake up from their slumber. Against a better side, it might as well have ended 3-3 or more on the night

#1 Bordeaux's misery against PSG continues

Bordeaux always seem to run out of luck against PSG.
Bordeaux always seem to run out of luck against PSG.

With yet another defeat, Bordeaux have now gone 13 Ligue 1 games without a victory against PSG. They have drawn four and lost nine in this period.

They've only had two longer runs without a win against a specific opponent in the top flight. They went 15 games winless against Lyon between September 1999 and August 2006, and 14 games against Reims between September 1978 and December 2020.

With twice as many shots as their visitors, the Girondins had arguably their best chance of ending the hoodoo and getting one over PSG. But alas, it wasn't meant to be.

Great effort, though.
