Cesc Fabregas could miss Chelsea’s next two matches because of a hamstring injury

In what could possibly be yet another big blow to Premier League leaders Chelsea, key midfielder Cesc Fabregas could miss the club's next two fixtures against Aston Villa and Everton due to a hamstring injury. The 27-year-old Spaniard sustained the injury during his side’s 1-0 win in the second leg of the Capital One Cup semifinal win over Liverpool on January 27th at Stamford Bridge.

He was also forced to miss last weekend’s massive home clash against Manchester City, which they drew 1-1 and was seen watching the game from the stands along with fellow countryman and teammate Diego Costa, who himself is serving a 3 match suspension for allegedly stamping on Liverpool’s Emre Can during the Capital One Cup semifinal.

Fabregas, though, has been training on his own to get himself fit in time for the two games with a club physio monitoring his progress. However, despite him going full throttle, it does look as if it would be difficult for him to recover fully from the injury.

The situation, though isn't all gloomy for the table toppers with the club sounding confident that Nigerian midfielder Mikel John Obi would have recovered in time from a head injury for the game versus Villa. He even trained at the club’s training centre at Cobham with teammate Juan Cuadrado on Wednesday.

The 26-year-old Colombian could also be hopeful of getting a game after he was included in the Chelsea squad for the Premier league as well as for the knockout stages of the Champions League, where the Blues will take on Paris-Saint Germain away from home on 18th February.
