Liverpool and Barcelona are two giants of European football who have an awe-inspiring history when it comes to the biggest club competition in Europe. The prospect of watching this Liverpool side go up against Lionel Messi's Barcelona did make many football enthusiasts drool simply because of the attacking prowess of both these sides.

Unfortunately for the Kops, things didn't turn out as per the plan, as they were humbled by Lionel Messi and company at Camp Nou. While both sides were evenly impressive on paper, things turned out to be one-sided when the scoreline is referred to.

Liverpool does possess one of the brightest and most talented squads in Europe, and if their performances under Jurgen Klopp is put into perspective, then it might not be long for the Reds to reach the pinnacle of football once more.

A 3-0 win is pretty huge for La Blaugrana and many might say they have one foot in the final, but ardent Liverpool fans won't be too keen about that and neither will Jurgen Klopp. The former Borussia Dortmund manager has brought the swagger back to the Merseyside club and his charisma has been key to Liverpool's resurgence.

While overcoming a 3 goal deficit is a tough task, considering the spirit of Klopp and the potential of his side, this task is not at all impossible. Here we list 4 reasons why Liverpool may overcome Barcelona's advantage in the 2nd leg at Anfield.

#4 The Reds are lethal at home

Liverpool is yet to lose a European game at home

Liverpool has been utterly sensational at home this season! Jurgen Klopp's side is a force to reckon at home and some of the big names of England as well as Europe will agree on this. Manchester United, PSG, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, etc, the list of top teams to have tasted defeat at the hands of Liverpool at home goes on and on.

Liverpool is yet to lose a European game at home, and their home record in the Premier League has been the reason why the Kops find themselves competing for the Premier League as well as the Champions League.

Ernesto Valverde will no doubt be wary of Liverpool's record at home, and despite holding a firm 3-goal advantage, he won't be taking any risks against The Reds, simply because Jurgen Klopp's men are extremely potent at home.

#3 Anfield's aura

Anfield has never been an easy ground for the away sides as the loud and vibrant army of Liverpool fans commits themselves with soul and heart in supporting their club, which often turns out to be an intimidating sight for the visiting teams.

Many famous sides have travelled to Anfield with hope but returned with little to show for it, simply because the ground is no easy place to play, courtesy of Liverpool's passionate followers.

The greats of the Premier League have often failed to deliver at Anfield, and the list of legends who found it hard to deliver at Liverpool's home is long and utterly impressive.

Lionel Messi and company will be in for a tricky 90 minutes or more as the Liverpool devotees await La Blaugrana at their footballing temple.

#2 Liverpool's goal tally on English soil

Liverpool - Ruthless!
Liverpool - Ruthless!

Liverpool has scored a plethora of goals in the Premier League this season, and all has been down to their amazing trio upfront. Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mane. They give Liverpool that extra which has been hurting defences all around England.

Salah and Mane specifically have been ruthless in front of goal, and their chemistry is the reason for Liverpool's successful season.

Jurgen Klopp's trip to Spain didn't turn out to be a pleasing one but it's no secret that the Reds are an all-different unit on English soil. Liverpool's flowing style has caused trouble for many Premier League sides, and the number of goals scored by their forwards does support our argument that back at home, Liverpool is fierce.

From Bayern Munich to FC Porto, some top European sides have faced the wrath of Liverpool on English soil.

#1 Barcelona's ghosts from last season

Barcelona has one of the most loyal and massive fan bases around the globe. La Blaugrana have their fans spread to each and every corner of the world, and it's no secret that Barcelona is one of the most supported football teams in the world.

All these fans might be gloating after Barca's dominant victory over Liverpool, but somewhere in their hearts, they will be thinking about the horrendous scenes from last season.

Lionel Messi and company defeated AS Roma comfortably at the Camp Nou before witnessing a historic comeback in Italy, as Roma defeated Braca 3-0 to advance on away goals.

Liverpool will be hoping for a similar outcome as they look to overcome the 3 goal deficit and reach the final of the UEFA Champions League.
