Chelsea and Atletico Madrid played out an entertaining 1-1 draw in their final game in Group C at Stamford Bridge. Antonio Conte's men started the game strongly and came out on top several times in the first half, only to be denied by the heroics of Jan Oblak.

However, the game stretched in the second half and Atletico took the lead in the 56th minute when Saul Niguez got on the end of a flick, at the far post, from Fernando Torres to head home after escaping his marker. Chelsea responded strongly and had the better opportunities after conceding and their efforts finally paid off when Stefan Savic turned Eden Hazard's shot into his own net in the 75th minute.

The result meant that Atletico will now head to the Europa League while Chelsea finished second behind group winners AS Roma, who managed to win 1-0 against Qarabag on the night. Here we take a look at how the players from both sides fared during the match:

Chelsea FC

Thibaut Courtois - 6/10

The Chelsea shot-stopper did not have a lot to do as compared to his counter-part in between the sticks for Atletico. Courtois showed no signs of complacency and was only let down by poor marking which led to the opening goal.

Cesar Azpilicueta - 7/10

Azpilicueta continues to perform consistently at the highest level and did well to keep the Atletico attackers at bay. The Spaniard hardly put a foot wrong and was comfortable with or without the ball at his feet.

Andreas Christensen - 7/10

Another player who has been consistent throughout the season, Christensen managed to come out on top against the Atletico forwards in a few instances and also posed a threat from set-pieces.

Gary Cahill - 6/10

Cahill returned to the starting line-up and managed to have a decent game. The Chelsea captain showed good composure on the ball and kept his calm throughout the ninety minutes.

Victor Moses - 6/10

Moses enjoyed a good first half and capped off his performance with a few good dribbles and key passes into the area. The Nigerian seems to have regained his form after spending almost six weeks on the sidelines.

Tiemoue Bakayoko - 5/10

Not the greatest of games for Bakayoko, yet again. The Frenchman let Saul free while defending a corner and conceded Atletico's opening goal on the night.

N'Golo Kante -6/10

Kante kept the engine running for Chelsea in midfield and made a few interceptions in key areas to prevent further damage. He also galloped forward and added to the numbers while attacking.

Cesc Fabregas - 7/10

Fabregas seems to have established a connection with Morata and Hazard ahead of him and played some crucial passes inside the final third for the Blues., yet again proving that he can pick out any teammate from anywhere on the pitch

Davide Zappacosta - 6/10

Deployed on the left flank in place of Marcos Alonso on the night, Zappacosta got forward on a few occasions but his poor tackling earned him a booking before being taken off in the second half in a bid to get a goal back.

Eden Hazard - 8/10

Chelsea's best player on the night, Hazard was flawless on the night and his performance was a perfect combination of effective dribbles, key passes and nimble footwork. The Belgian played a key part in Chelsea's equalizer.

Alvaro Morata - 7/10

The Spaniard enjoyed a majority of the chances in the first half and could have had a goal or two if not for Oblak's shot-stopping abilities. However, he would feel that he could have done a little more to try and come out on top against his opponent between the sticks.

Substitutes

Pedro - 6/10

Looked lively after coming on and played a key role in some of Chelsea's effective counter attacks towards the end of the game.

Willian - 5/10

The Brazilian had very little time to make an impact and blasted one over the top after getting on the end of a ball from Hazard.

Michy Batshuayi - N/A

Came on in the 81st minute.

Atletico Madrid

Jan Oblak - 7/10

Despite being at the receiving end of a lot of firing from Chelsea, Oblak came out on top almost all the time. If not for him, Atletico would have had a hard time keeping Chelsea at bay.

Jose Gimenez - 6/10

Gimenez did not enjoy a lot in the first half and was kept busy by Morata throughout the game. He could not provide a lot of support to his goal-keeper either.

Stefan Savic - 5/10

Savic, unfortunately, turned the ball into his own net in the second half for Chelsea's equalizer and was kept on his toes for the majority of the game by Hazard.

Lucas Hernandez - 5/10

Not the best of games for Hernandez who had a tough time handling Morata and Hazard in the first half. He was outpaced and outdone on a few occasions before being taken off.

Filipe Luis - 7/10

The former Chelsea full-back enjoyed his time on the ball and showed his quality while going forward in many instances. Luis also beat Courtois with a shot from outside the area, only to be denied by the post.

Thomas Partey - 5/10

Partey was restricted to his own half for the majority of the game and did not offer much while going forward. The midfielder eventually faded off as Chelsea took control.

Gabi - 7/10

The Atletico captain enjoyed keeping the ball and covered a lot of ground while going up and down the pitch. Gabi ensured that his side did not give away the ball cheaply and played some good passes.

Saul opened his account for the campaign on match day 6

Saul Niguez - 8/10

The midfielder grabbed his first goal in the Champions League this season by doing great to escape his marker from a corner. Saul's goal was the first goal scored away from home by the visitors in this year's competition and he hardly put a wrong foot.

Koke - 6/10

Koke would have enjoyed more involvement on the ball inside the final third but he was left out as Chelsea gained more traction after conceding that goal.

Fernando Torres - 6/10

A good return to Stamford Bridge for Torres, who flicked a corner to the far post for Saul to pounce on it and open the scoring for his side. A shame that he was taken off in the 54th minute but rightfully enjoyed a standing ovation from both sets of fans.

Antoine Griezmann - 5/10

An off day for the Frenchman who could not manage to be at his destructive best while going forward. Griezmann was picked off easily by the Chelsea defenders and had a disappointing day infront of goal.

Substitutes

Yannick Carrasco - 5/10

Came on early in the second half but it hardly mattered for Atletico as he struggled to make an impact.

Angel Correa - N/A

Came on in the 79th minute

Luciano Vietto - N/A
