Claudio Ranieri's poor record as a visiting manager at Stamford Bridge continued as Fulham succumbed to defeat in the end. The visitors frustrated Chelsea for prolonged periods during the game, but were unable to muster something substantial out of their relentless push for parity in the second half.

Andre Schurrle's unavailability due to a minor knock proved to be a huge blow for Fulham in the end, especially considering the fact that he could have been a reliable outlet on the flank with enough and more pace to burn against the Chelsea full-backs.

The German's absence coupled with Ryan Sessegnon's lack of involvement meant that Fulham were ridiculously short of options to get in behind the Chelsea defenders.

Tom Cairney and Aleksandar Mitrovic offered hope, but Fulham were let down massively by the performances of Sessegnon and Stefan Johansen, who replaced Schurrle in the starting eleven.

Ranieri had little to tinker with from the bench as well with the likes of Floyd Ayite and Neeskens Kebano introduced in the second half while they were trailing by a goal.
