What’s the story?

With the January transfer window coming up, players who are unhappy at their current clubs are looking to move away. Some are looking to move away for game time while some look to move because of unhealthy relationships at the current club.

One such player who's not happy with things at his current club is said to be Alex Sandro. The Brazilian defender has fallen out with key staff members at Juventus and is desperate for a move away, as per reports in Telegraph.

Chelsea are still interested in signing the left-back and are ready to pounce on the chance as per the same report. Juventus will be forced to sell him next month as they have made it clear that they will not keep any player at the club against his wish.

In case you didn’t know...

Chelsea made several bids for Sandro in the summer, but were rejected by the player and the club. Juventus, at one point, were ready to sell him but decided to rebuff the bid after the player confirmed that he wanted to remain in Turin.

The heart of the matter

Alex Sandro will reportedly hand in a formal transfer request soon at Juventus, as per reports in Italy. The full-back remains Chelsea's #1 target for next month with Antonio Conte keen on adding some competition to Marcos Alonso.

Chelsea are willing to pay anything to get the player for whom they were ready to break the world transfer record (for a defender) in the summer. It is believed that the Premier League champions will make an initial bid of £50 million but might have to fork out £70 million to get him.

Author’s take

Alex Sandro might not be able to play in the UEFA Champions League this season if he signs for Chelsea, but that should not stop him or the club from completing the move. He is the much-needed addition to the squad that Chelsea need while a move to Chelsea can boost his chances of making it to the Brazil National Squad for the World Cup too.
