Chelsea have today announced a new technical partnership with Nike. It is reported that Chelsea would get £60 MILLION every year – this will be the largest commercial deal in London history.

Nike and Chelsea have penned a 15-year deal while will be running till 2032. Chelsea will receive a cumulative figure of £900 million with the deal which would be the 2nd largest in the Premier League. Manchester United currently lead the charts with a £75 million per season deal with Adidas.

Nike, the world’s leading sports apparel company, will now become the official kit providers for the London club from the beginning of the 2017/18 season. Nike will make and supply the kits and accessories for the first team, academy, and the Ladies teams. Apart from this, Nike also have the rights to make a wide range of clothing and accessories for Chelsea and it’s fans.

Chelsea ended their deal with Adidas 6 years early after they could not strike a deal to improve the existing contract. Adidas had a deal of £30 million a season with the London club – who broke the deal with Umbro to join up with Adidas.

On announcing the Nike-Chelsea deal, the club’s director, Marina Granovskaia said, “This is an incredibly exciting and important deal for the club. Like Chelsea, Nike is known around the world for its excellence and innovation and we look forward to working together in what is sure to be a successful partnership.”

Chelsea are now considered in the range of the World’s best clubs despite their poor form last season. “We believe Nike will be able to support our growth into new markets as well as helping us maintain our place among the world’s elite football clubs,” she added.

This might not be the largest deal in the Premier League but this is certainly the largest by the Nike with an English football club. Nike have a bigger deal with Spanish side, FC Barcelona – who are said to be in talks with the American brand to make it a £120 million a year deal.

Nike president, Trevor Edwards said, "Chelsea is a world-class club with a rich tradition and passionate fans across the globe.”

“The partnership with Chelsea reinforces our leadership position in football. We are excited to help grow the club’s global reach, serving players and supporters with Nike innovation and design," he added.
