Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain is turning out to be the player every club has on it’s shopping list with Chelsea now joining the race, admits Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
“As well as Arsenal, Chelsea are now also interested,” De Laurentiis told Tuttomercato.
“The money we got for Cavani was £56m (€64.5m) and added to the £52m (€60m) we had set aside for the transfer budget there will be £108m (€124.5m) to carefully invest on Napoli,” he added. “There are various names on the table, we’re assessing the situation.”
Higuain has been an Arsenal and Napoli transfer target this summer, but the Argentina international is yet to make a comment on his current situation.
According to Spanish daily AS, Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing his former player to the Stamford Bridge. It has been suggested that a bid of no less than £37 million will more than enough to tempt Real Madrid into selling Higuain.
Marca claims that Arsenal are not willing to offer more than €26 million for Higuain, something Chelsea will be more than happy to do, taking their recent signings into consideration.
