What's the story?

It seems like Chelsea's transfer window is just going from bad to worse. After missing out on signing Romelu Lukaku, the Blues were dealt another blow when it was revealed that Liverpool had beaten them to the signing of Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. However, things might just start to be looking up for the Premier League Champions as latest reports from The Metro claim that Antonio Conte is close to sealing deal for free-agent Bacary Sagna.

The 34-year-old former Manchester City and Arsenal player was released by Pep Guardiola's side at the end of last season. Immensely experienced at the top level, Sagna will definitely provide a viable alternative to Victor Moses in the right-wing back role.

Manchester United are also keen on Sagna, but it looks like the Blues are in pole position to complete the signing of the out of contract French international.

Although out of contract, Sagna is still one of the best right-backs in the Premier League and capable of doing a job when called upon. Part of the French national team at the moment, the 34-year-old will be glad that clubs of the caliber of Manchester United and Chelsea are interested in securing his signature.
