Chelsea eye Manchester City star, Manchester clubs want Barca maestro and more: Premier League transfer news February 4, 2018

Barcelona v Valencia - Copa Del Rey
Manchester club want Barca maestro

One of the things that you begin to notice during the non-window season is that it is almost always the bigger clubs that make the rumours. The others, meanwhile, seem content with what they have (or maybe the outlets don’t think that it is worth making things about them).

So without further ado, let’s go!

#5 Liverpool

It is mostly the top clubs that are dominating the round-up today, as Liverpool are just another piece of the puzzle ready to fit themselves here.

Last summer, they signed Alex-Oxlade Chamberlain from Arsenal, but they don’t have any intention of making him the last Arsenal player they sign as, according to The Sun, Liverpool are set to offer better contractual terms to Jack Wilshere in a bid to entice him to Anfield.

The Englishman will be a free agent in the summer after his contract expires, so there is a chance that Liverpool could get him.

Meanwhile, there is some bad news for Liverpool fans as PSG have entered the race to sign Liverpool target and Roma goalkeeper, Alisson, say Calciomercato.

#4 Arsenal madness

Leicester City v Watford - Premier League
The AWOL man

Yup, I have officially named this section of the round-up as madness. After so many repeated appearances here, it is only fair that the Gunners are bestowed the tag with which the Manchester clubs are honoured.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal have joined the race to sign Riyad Mahrez in the summer. After Leicester City rejected Manchester City’s approach on Deadline Day for their star player, the Algerian has been AWOL from training.

The report claims that Arsene Wenger keeps in touch with Leicester, asking around about the player’s ethics in training and character as a footballer.

#3 Chelsea’s rage and Man City madness

Burnley v Manchester City - Premier League
Blues will go for Raheem Sterling, say reports

The fact that Chelsea players are regularly linked with other clubs is quite a disturbing aspect for the fans, and it is not only just any random players, but the top, top ones as we have some rumours regarding Thibaut Courtois.

According to The Sun, Courtois might opt to see out the remainder of his contract—that lasts until 2019—in order to join Real Madrid as a free agent. As a result, the Blues have targetted Joe Hart as a possible replacement.

Meanwhile, in almost a repeat of yesterday’s news, Don Balon state that should Real Madrid sign Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio will leave and the Blues will target Raheem Sterling to replace the Belgian. However, should the Londoners entice the Englishman out of the club, then Pep Guardiola will approach the Galacticos for Marco Asensio.

Wow.

#2 Chelsea’s rage and Man United madness

Barcelona v Espanyol - Spanish Copa del Rey
A low release clause could hurt Barcelona

This is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. The rumours surrounding these two entities are not only huge in volume, but also inter-linked to each other. As a result, I had to make another slide out of it.

According to Don Balon, Chelsea have entered the race to sign Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona, who is also being targeted by Real Madrid and Manchester United. The fact that he has a €60 million clause makes him an easy target for clubs.

Meanwhile, it seems as though Manchester United are preparing for life without David De Gea as Jordan Pickford has been eyed as a replacement for the Spaniard, believe The Sun.

#1 More Manchester madness

Barcelona v Espanyol - Spanish Copa del Rey
Rakitic could leave

Like the body without a soul, flower without fragrance and The Office without Steve Carell, this transfer round-up space is nothing without Manchester madness. People love this madness just as much as I do and we have some more of it today.

Remember Patrick Kluivert? Yes, the legendary Dutch footballer. Apparently, he has a son named Justin Kluivert, who is also a very talented footballer, and Jose Mourinho is keen on acquiring his signature, say the Mirror.

They report that Manchester United are in “advance talks” with the 18-year-old Ajax wing wizard.

Meanwhile, Don Balon believe that Ivan Rakitic could be thinking about leaving Barcelona and that both Manchester teams would be willing to buy him.
