Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have been dealt setbacks in their pursuit for Inter’s Fredy Guarin, as the club state he is not for sale.

Chelsea, in particular, have been chasing Guarin’s signature for several weeks and he has been tipped to join Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

David Moyes was also said to be interested in the powerful central midfielder as Guarin is exactly the type of player he needs to instill some attacking flair and penetration from midfield into his squad.

However, Inter’s sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed the club’s intentions are to keep the south American.

“Guarin is an Inter player and we are happy to keep him,” said Ausilio.

“Denying the contacts with Chelsea would be denying the evidence. It is a source of pride to talk with them about one of our players, but everything stopped there.

“We are happy Guarin could stay with us for a long time. We don’t have the intention to sell him. He’s an important player.”

Guarin has completed 54 take-ons this term, only Ricky Alvarez has completed more at Inter
