What's the news?

Jamie Carragher criticized Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea after their 6-0 defeat against Manchester City, and compared them to Arsene Wenger's Arsenal.

In case you didn't know...

After a few wonderful months at the starting of the season under Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea is struggling since the last few weeks and lost three of their last four league games.

They were 11 points ahead of the Manchester United when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was unveiled as the Red Devils' caretaker manager in December 2018, but now find themselves one point behind them.

The Blues will be aiming for the 'top-four' finish this season, but are very unlikely to achieve that unless there is some drastic change in their form.

The heart of the matter

Sky Sports pundit, Jamie Carragher criticized Maurizio Sarri for converting Chelsea into Arsene Wegner's Arsenal, who cannot compete in the big games.

He said: "City have been outstanding, but this has been as bad as anything from Chelsea this season,"

"It's only halfway through Sarri's first season, but the worst thing I can say is it looks like he has turned Chelsea into Arsenal.

He further elaborated: "The Arsenal team that has got battered away from home in the last seven or eight years because they have been too weak. You couldn't say that about Chelsea in the past, but this looks like a weak team.

He also slammed Marcos Alonso for being casual during the game

"The first goal is criminal from [Marcos] Alonso. It's so casual three or four minutes into a big game. He was not switched on at all."

What's next?

Chelsea will be playing Malmo FF during the mid-week in the Europa League, and will be looking forward to getting some momentum back before facing Manchester United in FA Cup on February 19.
