No Brexit for Thibaut Courtois

Chelsea and Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois insists he is a happy man at Chelsea under Italian manager Antonio Conte. The Blues currently sit in second place, a point off leaders Liverpool after their weekend mauling of Everton. Chelsea thumped Ronald Koeman’s visiting Toffee’s 5-0 at Stamford Bridge giving the fans a performance that has gone down as one of the greatest displays by a team in Premier League history.

Currently training with the Belgian national team ahead of their World Cup Qualifier against Estonia on Sunday. Courtois ahead of the fixture spoke out on reports linking the goalkeeper back to a move to Madrid, this time Real being the suitors.

The keeper insists he is enjoying life at Chelsea under the new manager as he believes the squad is improving and the results are a result of hard work paying off. Speaking to a Spanish Radio Cadene Cope, the Belgian said,

"I never had anything with Real Madrid. I did not see anything published, but I never had any contact with Real Madrid.

"I am happy at Chelsea. Everything is going very well - it is a great club. There is no reason not to be happy at Chelsea. You never know what will happen in the future, but at the moment I am very well, in a very good atmosphere."

Courtois was on loan to Real’s rivals Atletico from Chelsea for three years as the young keeper developed an nurtured his abilities in Spain under Simeone. Two seasons ago though Chelsea brought the player back to Stamford Bridge to start his career at the West London club, and has taken no time to adapt to his surrounding winning the league in his first season followed by a turbulent second.

But Courtois is focused on the task at hand with Chelsea this season insisting Real Madrid talks are just nonsense. However, in a past interview with Onda Cero, Courtois claimed he is half Spanish, and a move back to Atletico in the future might be possible.

"Perhaps one day I can return - who knows? But right now I'm very happy at Chelsea,” said Courtois.

"I wish Atleti the best. I miss Madrid; I left many friends there, but I knew my future was in England." The team is doing well right now," Courtois added. "I want to win the title with Chelsea."

Chelsea is a strong contender to win the league this season, with Conte setting the standard defensively with three at the back and it working wonders for the Blues thus far this campaign, Courtois dream to win another Premier League trophy might become a reality.
