Chelsea Transfer Rumour: Blue's deal to sign Marcelo Brozovic collapses

Marcelo Brozovic has chosen to stay with Inter Milan and is going to sign a new contract

Chelsea have been dealt another blow in their pursuit of a player as a move for Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has reportedly been collapsed. It was earlier reported that a deal was agreed between two clubs in the region of £25 million but the player has turned down a lucrative offer to join the Blues. The 23-year-old was book maker's favourite to join Antonio Conte's side but has now decided to stay at San Siro.

It was reported that Chelsea offered a reasonably higher wage to the Croatian international but he refused to accept a move to England. His agent, Miroslav Bicanic said, "Yes, it is official Brozo will stay in Inter. Otherwise, he would have been on the plane to London and not with national team in Sisak. After he returns from Croatia, Marcelo will sign a new, improved contract with Inter."

He continued, "With it he will earn less than he would have if he had signed for Chelsea, but he feels comfortable in Inter, he knows the city and the club will play in Europa League. He didn't want to rush to England because there is a new coach at Inter."

Inter have done well this summer as they have signed high-profile names like Joao Mario and Gabriel Barbosa to aid Frank De Boer's cause for the Nerazzurri.

Chelsea are expected to be busy this deadline day as they have signed Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina for a fee around £23 million. The left back has previous experience in England because of his earlier spell with Bolton and will provide much-needed cover in defense for the Blues.

David Luiz is also in London for a medical as he returns to Chelsea in a deal rumoured to be around £32 million, though the two clubs are said to be in disagreement over his transfer fee.

The Blues have missed out on a lot of targets this summer. Conte has missed out on Romelu Lukaku, Leonardo Bonucci and Kalidou Koulibaly as the Italian wanted to do a major overhaul at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea also missed out on AC Milan's Alessio Romagnoli in the last few days as they have signed just two players in Michy Batshuayi and N'golo Kante.
