Chelsea's Upcoming Transfer Activities

Robin G

As the current season approaching to final whistle next month, we have already started watching hopefully to the upcoming summer transfer window gossips. Chelsea are also linked with Mourinho, Falcao, Shurrle, Lewandowski, Moutinho and Gomez. Nice to hear, right? Except news of Mourinho’s return to Stamford Bridge, all other names still remain under in gossip list. Let the gossips go their own way, let’s have look to our team and its needs in upcoming transfer window.

Goal keeping Department:

This is the only department that we need not have invest in near future. With Petr Cech remains our undisputed number 1 keeper, our goal line is well protected. If Courtois returns to Blues after a successful double season loan spell at Atletico Madrid, our goal keeping department would become even more stronger than it is now. We also have another young goal keeping talent Jamal Blackman waiting for senior team action. With Hilario’s contract ends this summer and Turnbull’s frustration of being remained in bench, there is a strong possibility of his involvement in senior squad of next season.

Possible OUT s: Hilario, TurnBull

Possible IN s: Courtois

Defensive Department:

We have John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz and Gary Cahill for central defensive role with Ivanovic also available as right full back role along with Cesar Azpilicueta and Paulo Ferraira. Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand are the available candidates of left back spot. Left back department is comparatively narrow which alert us that there should be an investment there. We heard speculation linking Chelsea to Southampton’s young left back Luke Shaw. Reports say that Chelsea will go for this young talent in next summer transfer window. Reports also say that if Chelsea secure his service, they would immediately loan back to Southampton to get more first team action for further progression. Ashley Cole will be in his final year of contract next season. With his legs getting older and easily subject to be injured, the only option available is Bertrand. But his recent performances say that he is not so smart as Cole. So we need another left back ready for immediate first team involvement. I suggest these people that we should notice:

1. Baines – Everton

2. Coentrao – Real Madrid

3. Alaba – Bayern Munich

4. Santana – Borussia Dortmund

Possible OUT s: Paulo Ferraira

Possible IN s: Luke Shaw

Holding Midfield Department:

This is the main department in which we should invest heavily in upcoming transfer window. Reports say that Chelsea are not interested in renewing contract of our midfield general for past decade, Frank Lampard. If he leaves at the end of current season, our holding midfield department would restrict into Mikel, Romeu,Ramires and on-loan Essien . Even now itself Blues lack a creative player in this department. So we want proven holding midfielder from this transfer window. There’s already have speculations relating Moutinho, I would like to introduce 2 others for taking that role.

1. Bastian Shweinsteiger – FC Bayern Munich

He is also known as Midfield general of Die Mannschaft. He has the ability of reading the game well. He is physically strong and has the pace. He is creative and able to provide killer passes as well as blocking the attacking midfielders of opposing team. We have watched hi superb and solid performances against Portugal in 2006 World Cup and 2008 Euro Cup, against Argentina in 2010 World Cup in which he successfully locked Lionel Messi and recently against FC Barcelona in Champions League.

2. Ilkay Gundogan – Borussia Dortmund

Young promising German midfielder who is more accurate in tackling and providing long balls to striker. He played a vital role in Borussia’s glittering Bundesliga and Champions League performances. He will be a great addition to our young team.

Possible IN s: Ilkay Gundogan, Moutinho

Possible OUT s: Frank Lampard, Michel Essien

Attacking Midfield Department:

Abramovich has splashed out money in this department last year in the likes of Eden Hazard, Marko Marin, Oscar and Victor Moses. So no other big spending is needed here. Blues also have Kevin De Bruyne on loan at Werder Bremen. Andre Shurrle of Bayer Leverkusen is strongly linked with a transfer to Blues. But Leverkusen want a swoop offer involving Kevin De Bruyne. Blues are unlikely to sell the young Belgian. There were also rumors about Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus heading to Chelsea. In my opinion, Reus will be more suitable for Chelsea than Shurrle. The return of Lucaz Piazon also give boost to this department.

Possible IN s: Andre Shurrle

Possible OUT s: Marko Marin

Striking Department:

With Romelu Lukaku is on loan at West Brom, Blues have only Fernando Torres and Demba Ba as recognized strikers for senior team. The name we have been hearing for a long time in our transfer activities is Atletico Madrid’s Colombian ace Radamel Falcao. Chelsea are chasing Falcao since the time of Andre Vilas Boas at Stamford Bridge. Reports say that Thibaut Courtois, on loan at Atletico Madrid, would involve in swoop transfer for Falcao. But Chelsea unlikely to sell the young Belgian promising goal keeper. If they do so, it would be the greatest idiotic transfer of next transfer window. Chelsea is targeted on Mario Gomez as main alternative to Falcao. If Falcao deal fails, the Bayern Munich striker will be there at Stamford Bridge. Reports also say that Mourinho, if he returns to Chelsea, want Borussia Dortmund’s striker Robert Lewandowski. According to me, Lewandowski would be more suitable signing for us than Falcao.

Possible IN s: Radamel Falcao, Robert Lewandowski, Mario Gomez

Possible OUT s: Fernando Torres
