Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard consoles Luis Suarez after they drew 3-3 at Crystal Palace

Liverpool’s title hopes were given a massive blow as they conceded a 3-0 lead to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, claiming just one point as Palace managed to claw their way back into the game.

Liverpool took the lead in the 18th minute when Joe Allen headed home from a corner. Daniel Sturridge doubled the lead early in the second half with a solo effort before Raheem Sterling assisted Luis Suarez with a 1-2 to make the scoreline 0-3 to Liverpool in the 55th minute.

But Crystal Palace staged an unlikely comeback as Damien Delaney scored in the 79th minute with a long range shot that was deflected beyond Mignolet’s reach. Two minutes later, Dwight Gayle scored to make it 2-3 as Liverpool started to panic.

Gayle scored again with two minutes left on the clock after another substitute Glenn Murray chested a long ball into the box allowing Gayle to run in unimpeded to score.

With this draw, Liverpool are now on 81 points with one game left to play. Manchester City have two games to play and are on 80 points.

Chelsea (on 79 points from 37 games) can still claim second place if they win their final fixture against Cardiff City and Liverpool lose to Newcastle.

Luis Suarez was inconsolable after the final whistle.
