Rooney is expected to start against Manchester City tonight which could kick start a new lease of life for the England international striker.

Chelsea gather momentum in signing the £35million man

Chelsea have edged closer to signing the AS Roma central defender Antonio Rudiger, who is valued at £35million. Manchester clubs are also interested in signing the 23-year-old German international star which has forced Chelsea to move quicker in signing the central defender. A January deal is looking more likely after Chelsea have found their form under Antonio Conte in recent weeks.

Owner Roman Abramovich is ready to splash the cash in January and allow Conte to field a 3-5-2 system week in week out and that is why Rudiger is seen as the ideal signing to lift Chelsea’s fragile back line.
