Diego Costa completes Chelsea medical ahead of £32m move

Diego Costa is on the verge of completing a move to Chelsea

Ateltico Madrid striker Diego Costa has passed a medical at Chelsea and is ready to join the West Londoners for a fee of £32m.

Costa was the target-man in the Atletico Madrid forward line as he helped the club to seal the Spanish La Liga title after almost 18 years. The 25-year old Brazil-born striker found the net 36 times in 50 appearances in all the competitions. His 27 goal tally in the League was third only to Cristiano Ronaldo’s 31 and Lionel Messi’s 28.

Incidentally, Costa’s goal from the penalty spot against Chelsea in the Champions league quarter-finals knocked out the Londeners from the competition. Since then, Jose Mourinho has been constantly keeping an eye on Costa as he saw a complete striker in him who can provide consistent goals in the Premier league.

Chelsea lost out on the title race due to their lack of fire power up-front as the trio of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o failed to get themselves in the scoresheet consistently.

Chelsea has been active in the transfer market and they matched Costa’s release clause. Stamford bridge officials have been meeting the striker constantly to agree personal terms with him. From what is known, Chelsea has offered him a 5-year deal worth £150,000 a week. This new contract will triple his weekly wages as he was receiving only £50,000 a week from Atletico Madrid.

As per the sources, Diego Costa will officially join Chlelsea from Atletico Madrid before the World Cup starts in Brazil next week.
