Rumour: Diego Costa could conclude his Chelsea transfer within two weeks

Diego Costa: Sparkled this season with 27 goals in La Liga

Jose Mourinho have the comfort of knowing that the next two weeks are free for them to try and conclude the Diego Costa transfer.

Chelsea had allegedly agreed a £32 million fee for the Atletico Madrid striker but his hamstring injury now gives the Blues the chance to wrap up the deal sooner rather than later, reports the Daily Star.

Medics in Spain have advised him to sit out for the next fortnight, giving Chelsea plenty of time to confirm his signing prior to the World Cup.

Costa won La Liga with Atletico last week but hobbled off at the Nou Camp against Barcelona in the first half. He sat on the bench in tears but somehow started against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday.

He lasted just 9 minutes and limped off with his hamstring injury not recovered enough to carry on playing. His rest period can now be taken advantage of by Chelsea who can sign the Brazilian-born Spaniard before the World Cup kicks off – which he may not even make.
