Simeone has made his decision

Diego Simeone has ruled out a move away from Atletico Madrid after stating that Atletico Madrid is where he wants to be. There were rumours that Simeone was being targeted by Chelsea in the last few weeks but those rumours have now been put to rest.

The manager was one of the contenders for the top job at Stamford bridge but it looks like he staying put. Simeone is happy with life at Atletico saying, “This is my place now”

The 45-year-old took over the job in 2011 and has achieved a lot of success with the club. He said that before he was always moving around before settling at Madrid.

Speaking to Mexican newspaper Record he said, “In my career I was a bit of a nomad, as since I am 20 years old I have been travelling and playing in different places, both as a player and as a coach”.

The head coach was a former player at the club as well and he believes when a person finds a place that suits him or her they usually don’t leave after that.

“I always say that your place in the world is where you feel good. You can be in a marvellous place, and feel bad. So obviously that is not your place in the world” said the Spaniard

The coach was asked about the playing style he prefers and whether it poses a similarity to that of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola. To that, he replied “My idea is to win, I don't know any other," he said. "What you look for on the pitch is the best characteristics of each player to reach your objective in the game, which is to win.”

"When you come to a club you have players you have not signed. If you have Barcelona's players, you play differently than if you have those of Inter” he added.

Conte now frontrunner for Chelsea job

With Simeone effectively ruled out of the race to be the next Chelsea manager that leaves Antonio Conte as the most likely to be appointed. Guus Hiddink has done a marvellous job since he took over at the club from Jose Mourinho but his term will com to an end at the end of the season.

That has led Roman Abramovic to search for his replacement with Conte now looking the most likely to be that man. And according to reports he is currently negotiating a three-year deal with the Blues.

Chelsea are currently on the longest unbeaten run in the Premier League this season and currently lie 10th in the table.
