The EPL got rolling thanks to Daniel Sturridge’s first and only goal of the match from either side, which propelled Liverpool to an opening day victory.

Stoke were denied a last-gasp equalizer thanks to debutant Simon Mignolet’s heroics that saw the Liverpool goalkeeper produce a double save to deny Stoke a draw.

Meanwhile at Carrow road, Norwich and Everton played out an entertaining draw but Everton fans were visibly annoyed with the result.

Arsenal were the only club in the big four to lose on the opening weekend as they surrendered meekly to Aston Villa. The scoreline at the end of 90 minutes was 3-1 in Villa’s favour.

One can certainly conclude Arsenal fans were not pleased with what they saw by the following tweet.

On to Upton Park now where West Ham made light work of Premier League new boys Cardiff City as they defeated the Welsh side 2-0.

Joe Cole, the hero of the match, has scored in 13 different EPL seasons. Surely one of the legends of EPL in last decade.

David Moyes is off to a great start as in his first game in charge of Manchester United, as the Old Trafford side hammered Swansea 4-1 away from home.

It was Robin van Persie again who contributed two goals to United’s cause. Here is his volley for the first goal.

Tottenham Hotspur defeated Crystal Palace 1-0, who returned to the Premier League after an 8 year gap, thanks to a second-half penalty from Roberto Soldado, their record signing.

Chelsea defeated Premier League newcomers Hull City 2-0 in a convincing manner. For Chelsea Oscar and Lampard were on the scoresheet as Jose Mourinho continued his winning streak at Stamford Bridge.

On to Monday night football as Manchester City started their campaign in style by scoring four goals past an hapless Newcastle United side. Nasri finished off the match with a calmly slotted goal.

Alan Pardew blamed Newcastle’s defeat on Arsenal as they bid for Cabaye from just hours before kickoff but fans were not buying that excuse.
