Falcao to be offered new contract by Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid is offering a new improved contract to their striker Falcao, in a quest to diminish Chelsea‘s interest from the Colombian. If reports are to be believed, Chelsea are the favourites to sign the striker in the January transfer window. Roman Abramovich is ready to pay over the odds to bring Falcao to Chelsea and replace Fernando Torres, who has not yet justified his £50 million price tag.

Falcao’s current deal at the club runs till 2016. But in a desperate attempt to keep the striker, Atletico Madrid hope that improved terms may convince him to stay. A new deal would also mean a higher release clause, which may put an end to interests from Chelsea, or any club for that matter. The 2012 UEFA Super Cup winners are proposing to add an extra year to Falcao’s current contract, along with a bumper pay rise in order to secure his Atletico future.

Falcao is currently the best striker in Europe, with 13 goals in 9 matches. His impressive goal scoring streak has grabbed a lot of attention and looks keen to achieve bigger things in his playing career.
