Fantasy Premier League 18/19: Top 5 midfield options right now

Mane
Mane is the man to have in your team

The new season of Premier League started last weekend and along with it also began the FPL (Fantasy Premier League). The first game week of FPL was dominated by midfielders and defenders. Callum Wilson of Bournemouth was the only striker in the dream team.

Having a strong midfield in your team can really get you a lot of points as midfielders have a greater chance to both create and score the goals. In this article, we will look at 5 midfield options that you could think of having in your team.

#5 Sadio Mane (Liverpool FC)

In the first match of the new season, Mane scored a brace against West Ham. He was awarded 3 bonus points which took his tally to 16 points for the week.

Sadio Mane is currently available at £9.6m. Having him in your team could get you a lot of points in the coming weeks. Liverpool's next 3 fixtures are Crystal Palace (Away), Brighton (Home) and Leicester (Away). These can be considered not so tough for Liverpool and they are expected to win all 3 matches. Mane is almost guaranteed to start every match (unless he gets injured obviously). He has a great crossing ability that can help him get assists as well.

He is at a very good threat rating of 79.0 at the moment and players are bringing him in quick.

#4 Jorginho (Chelsea FC)

Jorginho scored from a penalty on his Premier League debut. And not just that, he was all over the pitch. He had a passing accuracy of 93.9%. It hasn't taken long for him to adjust to his new team.

Looking at his FPL performance in the first week, he ended up with 9 points. Now having Jorginho in your team is great because he is guaranteed to start most of the matches. Maurizio Sarri bought him for a reason and that's certainly not to sit on the bench. He could also be the first choice penalty taker (at least when Hazard is not on the pitch). So he can get easy points by scoring pens.

His biggest advantage is the price you can get him for. He's a bargain at only £5.0m. We know he can create a lot of chances and get assists as well. Chelsea's next 3 fixtures are Arsenal (H), Newcastle (A) and Bournemouth (H).

Getting him right now would be the best bet because his price will only go up from here.

#3 Richarlison (Everton FC)

Richarlison had a dream debut with Everton as he scored a brace against Wolverhampton. He almost won Everton their first match of the new season after he scored a fantastic goal. But the match ended 2-2 at full time. Nonetheless, his performance was something you can not ignore.

He was a part of the FPL dream team having scored 14 points. Richarlison seems like one of his manager's favourites. As a reason, he will be starting a lot of matches. He's available at a price of £6.6m which is a bargain in my opinion.

Everton's next three fixtures are against Southampton (H), Bournemouth (A) and Huddersfield (H). He suffered a knock at the end of the first match but is expected to be fit before this weekend. So if he starts, he has a very high chance of getting a goal.

#2 Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur)

Dele
Is Alli a good option?

Dele Alli scored the winner in Tottenham's first match of the new season. Newcastle tested Spurs until the last minute but Pochettino's team claimed the 3 points. Alli's headed goal came after Serge Aurier's amazing ball in the box. Alli had 9 points in the first game week of FPL.

Alli didn't have the best game by any means, but he certainly looks like a player in form. If you want to bring in a player who will get a lot of game time, at £9.0m he is a great option. He will surely like to get more goals and assists in the coming games. Spurs' next 3 fixtures are Fulham (H), Manchester United (A) and Watford (A).

#1 Raheem Sterling (Manchester City)

Sterl
Sterling the FPL champion?

Raheem Sterling had 18 goals & 11 assists last season in the Premier League. He was a part of more than 30% squads and became a favorite at the end of the season. Sterling scored an amazing goal in Manchester City's first Premier League game against Arsenal.

He had 7 points in the first FPL game week. He didn't have too many points but performed really well. His passing accuracy was at 80%. He was dispossessed 5 times in the game and won just 4 duels out of 16. His current value is £11m.

Many players would not want him right now. But looking at City's upcoming games, Sterling could really get going. They play Huddersfield (H), Wolves (A) & Newcastle (H) in their next 3 fixtures. City should have no issues getting all the 9 points.

Sterling is likely to start majority of the games, and he could be your prime midfielder in the weeks to come.

I would also like to mention a few more players you can get for your midfield:

1) Roberto Pereyra (Watford) - £6m

2) Ruben Neves (Wolves) - £5.1m

3) Paul Pogba (Man United) - £8.1m

4) Pedro (Chelsea) - £6.5m

5) Bernardo Silva (Man City) - £7.5m
