Fantasy Premier League 2017/18: 5 midfielders to watch out for in Gameweek 16

Southampton v Everton - Premier League
Gylfi Sigurdsson

Midfielders had a field day in Gameweek 15, netting a majority of the goals (12) scored. This week a lot of the big name midfielders in the Premier League will be ready with their shooting boots, looking to add goals to their tally and points to your fantasy teams.

Here are the 5 midfielders to watch out for in Gameweek 16:

#5 Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton, £8.0 m)

Just like the dude sharing his middle name, Gylfi Thor Sigurdsson has set the Premier League stage alight with some lightning performances for the Toffees in the last 4 gameweeks.

He has played a big part in their revival with 2 goals and 2 assists in his last 4 matches.

It is the Merseyside derby on Sunday and he will look to make full use of the occasion to show the world why he is one of the most feared players in the league by creating chances for his teammates or scoring goals for himself.

#4 Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City, £8.4 m)

Leicester City v Burnley - Premier League
Riyad Mahrez

The Algerian maestro hasn't had the best of seasons when compared to the high standards he set for himself 2 years ago in the Foxes' title-winning run. But Mahrez has upped his game in the last 2 gameweeks.

With a goal and an assist against teams boasting the stringiest of defences in Tottenham and Burnley, Mahrez is slowly recovering the touch and form the footballing fraternity fell in love with 2 seasons ago.

This week, he puts on his dribbling shoes against a Newcastle side who have conceded 12 goals conceded in their last 4 games, Mahrez will be smacking his lips in anticipation.

#3 Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool, £8.8 m)

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League
Philippe Coutinho

The Brazilian magician missed a significant part of the 2017-18 season due to injuries but has returned to the side in style, banging in 4 goals in 8 appearances.

Coutinho warmed up for this week's Merseyside derby by scoring a goal and recording 3 assists in his gameweek 15 matchup against Brighton.

In gameweek 16, he suits up against the Toffees for one of the most hyped matches of the season, one in which he has found a lot of success in the past, scoring twice in the last 3 derbies.

#2 Aaron Ramsey (Arsenal, £7.2m)

Arsenal v Sunderland - Premier League
Aaron Ramsey

The Welsh international has shown some real consistency of late, something that Arsenal fans have been raring to see for the last three seasons.

Ramsey is making use of the high-quality offensive weapons in the side in Alexandre Lacazette, Alexis Sanchez and Danny Welbeck, and is currently one of the leading assist providers in the league with eight assists.

This week Arsenal are up against the Saints who have failed to record a clean in their last 6 matches and Ramsey will be ready with his razor-sharp vision looking to find open teammates.

#1 Eden Hazard (Chelsea, £10.8m)

Chelsea v Manchester United - Premier League
Eden Hazard

The Belgian had fitness and form-related issues at the start of the season, until the 10th gameweek when he found the back of the net for the first time in the 2017-18 season. Since then he has scored 5 goals and provided 3 assists in 5 gameweeks.

Last week against the Magpies, he was at his destructive best, scoring 2 goals while turning provider once.

This week Chelsea travel to the London Stadium to try and inflict more misery on relegation-threatened West Ham and Hazard will look to increase his goal tally against a weak Hammers defence.
