What's the story?

Former Real Madrid superstar, Clarence Seedorf, hailed FC Barcelona's recent signing, Frenkie de Jong, stating that the Dutch prodigy is a great talent but would need to adapt to a new culture and a new league.

In case you didn't know...

Frenkie de Jong is set to arrive at the Nou Camp this summer. The 21-year-old Dutch wonder kid was on the radar of the Catalan giants for a long time and they splashed €75 million in the January transfer window to secure his services.

Due to his maturity on the ball and his rare ability to dictate play, De Jong has garnered attention across Europe. Barcelona are well aware of his potential and will be delighted to have him next season.

There is no doubt that De Jong's arrival will be a major boost for the Spanish giants, as it will strengthen their midfield.

Meanwhile, Clarence Seedorf remains a familiar name in world football. Like De Jong, he himself was the product of Ajax's famed academy and enjoyed a glittering career with Real Madrid and The Netherlands.

He won 2 Champions Leagues, one LaLiga title, and made over 150 appearances for Los Blancos. Seedorf is currently the coach of the Cameroon national team, after managing clubs like AC Milan and Deportivo La Coruna since his retirement as a player.

The heart of the matter

The 42-year-old Cameroon coach gave his views regarding Frenkie de Jong and his transfer to Barcelona whilst stating the difficulties in front of the young Dutch prodigy.

Speaking before the crucial tie between Ajax and Real Madrid, Seedorf told 'El Mundo' as quoted by Sport,

"He's got to adapt to a new culture, a new country and the speed of a new league. That's on top of the pressure he'll suffer from."
"De Jong is a great talent and he will do well in Spain", concluded the former Real Madrid star.

What's next?

Ajax will visit Real Madrid for the 2nd leg of their round of 16 Champions League fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Los Blancos ahead 2-1 lead on aggregate.
