In left-back sits the Bianconeri's first choice for that position, Alex Sandro. While his season under former coach Massimiliano Allegri was below expectations, Sandro will have a new opportunity to return to full form under Sarri.

Sandro's ability to maraud down the left flank and enhance the attack will come in handy for Sarri, and the Italiani is likely to take advantage of that. On the other hand, the arrival of the young Luca Pellegrini will keep Sandro consistent. Too many slipups and Sarri will replace him.

The centre-back pairing will be the most important aspect of Sarri's starting XI. With the Bianconeri bolstering their defence with over five players, Sarri has quite a few centre-backs to choose from.

Chiellini and Bonucci are both aging, and Juventus have brought in young blood to take over. However, Sarri may be looking at putting experience in his starting XI. Chiellini, who is a ball-playing defender, would likely be Sarri's choice for experience.

Yet, Juventus didn't just spend millions of pounds on de Ligt for nothing. The 19-year-old will most likely have a position in the starting XI, but he would have to impress as he did for Ajax to maintain that spot.

Joao Cancelo was consistent and solid for Juventus under Allegri, and Sarri would most likely use him, in the hope that he continues in his top form. If Cancelo starts the pre-season adapting to Sarri-ball efficiently, he would become the irreplaceable 'Dani Alves' of the team.

While there may be reports that Juventus want Cancelo out, Sarri isn't likely to give out one of the Bianconeri's top performers so far.
