Cristiano Ronaldo started both of Portugal's games, while Bruno Fernandes did so against Ireland. However, the Premier League duo could not do enough to help the Seleccao secure automatic qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2022. Diogo Dalot played the game against Ireland, helping Portugal keep a clean sheet in the draw

Victor Lindelof started both of Sweden's games, but ended up on the wrong side of 0-1 losses. Harry Maguire played both of England's games, helping keep two clean sheets; he also scored twice.

Elsewhere, Fred was part of both Brazil's games against Colombia and Argentina, while Eric Baily played in Ivory Coast's 0-1 loss against Cameroon.

Emile Smith Rowe made good on his call-up to the England squad, scoring one goal and assisting another against San Marino. Meanwhile, Aaron Ramsdale kept a clean sheet against San Marino. Bukayo Saka also joined in the fun, scoring against San Marino.

Kiernan Tierney starred in Scotland's surprise 2-0 win against Denmark. Martin Odegaard played in both of Norway's games but could not help his team qualify for the World Cup.

Elsewhere, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored in Gabon's 1-0 win against Libya, but sat out of their loss against Egypt. Mohamed Elneny, meanwhile, was rested against Egypt, but scored in the 2-2 draw against Angola. Nicolas Pepe came on as a substitute in both of Cote d'Ivoire's games.

Hugo Lloris kept a clean sheet in France's games against Kazakhstan and Finland as Les Bleus qualified for the World Cup. Matt Doherty starred in both of Ireland's games, helping keep a clean sheet in both, while Cristian Romero did the same with Argentina.

Joe Rodon played both of Wales' games against Belarus and Belgium as Gareth Bale and co qualified for the playoffs. Davinson Sanchez also played both of Colombia's games, helping keep a clean sheet against Paraguay.

Lo Celso featured in both of Argentina's games, starring in the win against Colombia as well as the goalless draw against Brazil. Heung Min Son played both of South Korea's games, scoring in their 3-0 win against Iraq.

Steven Bergwijn came on as a substitute in Netherland's draw against Montenegro. He started and scored in the 2-0 win against Norway as the Oranje qualified for the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane played both of England's games, scoring three against Albania and four against a hapless San Marino side. That made it 16 goals this year for Kane, who has struggled to get going in this season's Premier League.
