How Radamel Falcao can help Liverpool survive

TRP

Falcao, El Tigre, is currently considered as the best striker in the world. Starting the season off with the wrecking of the European Champions Chelsea, Falcao has continued his brilliant form with Atletico Madrid.

Atletico Madrid stand second in the La Liga, but still the club is in complete financial despair. The situation is so dire that the club has still not received the prize money from UEFA for winning the Europa League last season.

The only remedy that the club will have in December would be to sell their prized asset. Falcao came to Atleti for around 38 – 40 million Euros. The club has already said that they would not listen to offers below 50 million Euros.

Mourinho has already stated that Falcao is the best striker in the world, but despite his claims that he won’t break the bank on Falcao, Madrid will be in desperate need of such a striker if they have to close in on the 8 point lead on Barca.

The striker that will be surplus at Madrid would then be Benzema, as reports suggest a rift between Mourinho and the Frenchman. The striker has been in indifferent form, and has been overshadowed by Higuain this season. Benzema has a big admirer in Arsene Wenger, waiting patiently for any chance to sign the striker.

This momentous, if not just speculative signing, would show the end to Walcott’s career at the Emirates. Walcott has been pleading for a central role, and the arrival of another striker will definitely lead to his departure. Liverpool lie in wait for such a situation as Rodgers is in desperate need of any sort of ammunition.

Another possibility would arise if Roman Abrahamovich decides to tap up the Columbian Falcao. Chelsea have played this season with only Torres upfront and do not have even one replacement for him. Sturridge has been used as a winger by RDM , and this has led the English youngster to express discontent.

Again Liverpool have expressed their desire to sign Sturridge, a deal that almost happened in the summer. This deal could now be a possibility if Falcao arrives at Stamford Bridge.

So, in both ways, Brendan Rodgers looks set to benefit from Falcao’s decision. Gone are the days when the Merseyside club could attract top talents based on their European endeavors. The current Liverpool, in transition phase, will have to settle for such side shows for the moment.
