I don't know where I will be next year: Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi has given the clearest indication of the speculation surrounding his transfer away from Barcelona this season during a press conference. He said he is ‘not sure’ where he will be next year.
Ever since the reported bust-up with manager Luis Enrique, Messi’s future has been a matter of constant speculation with various clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain linked with a move for the Argentine maverick.
Despite a heavy transfer fee attached to the Barcelona player, Messi will not be short of prospective clubs with the only restriction being Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules that each club has to adhere to.
“Only God knows the future”
During a press conference prior to the FIFA Ballon d’Or gala, Messi was reluctant to commit his future to the Catalan club.
When asked if he might make a return to Argentina sometime in his career, Messi said, “I’m not sure what’s going to happen, whether I’ll go back to Newell’s.
“I’m not sure where I will be next year. In the football world, so many things can change overnight.
“I’ve always said I will end my career at Barcelona, but as Cristiano (Ronaldo) says only God knows the future.”
