Jamshedpur FC will play a vital away match against ATK at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday evening. A win is the only possible outcome that the unit will be hoping to achieve. The team is often accused of drawing too many matches, but that won’t help in the business end of the tournament.
Jamshedpur FC tactician Cesar Ferrando was very apt with his answers in the pre-match conference, he means business during his visit to the ‘City of Joy.’ When asked about whether missing key players will be a disadvantage to them, he said, “I don’t want to give any excuse. Tomorrow, we are going to line-up the best team to play against ATK. If we lose the match, I don’t want an excuse for anything. We are still a very good team regardless of the players. Jamshedpur FC has been part of eight stalemates in this season itself, out of the 14 matches they have played, although they have lost only on one occasion. The coach feels that they been short in quality to convert the drawn matches to wins, an area which aims to mend in the rest of the matches.
“Yes, we have drawn a lot of matches. I think we played very well in many matches but it isn’t enough to win. We need more quality in the opponent box. We are a good team but if you want to score you need more quality in the final third. We need to improve our attack,” said the gaffer.
He added by saying, “But it’s football, you can win draw or lose. Tomorrow if we draw we need to win the next two matches against Mumbai and Pune. Tomorrow’s draw is only good for the top four teams.”
Meanwhile, he informed that Australian World Cupper Tim Cahill will miss the game due to injury as well as Soosairaj. Regarding the injury concerns, he said, “Cahill has suffered an injury that is called the jersey finger. He has gone to Manchester for surgery. He should be back in two to three weeks. Raju Gaikwad is suffering from a hamstring injury. Soosairaj is down with viral figure. No chance to play.”
