Jose Mourinho angered by referee Skomina's decision

Chelsea have secured 4 points in their Champions League group matches so far.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho was at it again as he hit out at Slovenian referee Damir Skomina, labelling him “weak and naive” for failing to award his team a penalty in Champions League encounter with Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday, BBC Sport reported. The Blues were in Kiev last night for their third Champions League group match as it ended goalless after the final whistle.

This is not the first time the Portuguese tactician has been highly critical of match officials in his post-match interviews. The last time Mourinho used the aforementioned adjectives was on referee Mike Dean following the Gunners' loss at Chelsea last month.

The former Real Madrid boss was slapped with a £50,000 fine by FA and a suspension earlier this month. Following his team’s goalless draw to Kiev, Mourinho pointedly used the same terminology employed by Wenger when discussing the decision of Skomina to ignore first-half penalty appeals, when Cesc Fabregas was brought down in the box by Serhiy Rybalka in the first half.

"The referee was weak and naive. Big penalty." Mourinho said.

"The referee and the goal referee decide not to give [it]."

"Against Porto it was a clear handball, last minute, a decision crucial for the result of the game.”

"Today it was not last minute but it was a clear penalty. I don't know.”

“The referee didn't see it? The referee decided not to give it?"

Mourinho compares Skomina to Joubert

Mourinho has admitted that the Slovenian referee otherwise had a good game and compared him to under-fire referee Craig Joubert who officiated in Scotland’s encounter with Austrailia in the recently concluded Rugby World Cup quarterfinal which ended in controversy.

"I think the referee was very good. I'm serious," Mourinho added.

"I think he made one mistake and, for example, in the Rugby World Cup, I think the referee in the Scotland game was very good, but he made one mistake and because of that mistake Scotland is crying."

The opposition’s head coach Sergei Rebrov was more than satisfied with the result and has praised his side’s second-half display.

"The fact is Chelsea now is in 11th place in the English Premier League doesn't mean it's a weak team.”

"In the first half we had some problems, some mistakes.”

“In the second half we did better, we had several chances to score. I'm pretty happy with the way the boys did today."
