Mourinho is set to make a shock move to Spanish club Valencia

Jose Mourinho has been continuously linked with the Manchester United job, but reports coming in from Spain suggest that Mourinho is set to snub the offer from Manchester United and make a shock move to Spanish club Valencia instead. The La Liga side have endured a disappointing season and following the sacking of coach Gary Neville, assistant Pako Ayestaran has been appointed on a temporary basis.

Spanish journalists from Punto Pelota claim that Jose Mourinho will be signing a five-year deal with Valencia. Respected journalist Juan Gato wrote: "The coach rests these days in Ibiza, while his representative Jorge Mendes closed yesterday in Valencia the fringes of signing with Peter Lim - £36million for five seasons."

Fellow journalist Jordi Anajuma claimed on Twitter that Mourinho is set for a move to the Spanish club.

"A very reliable source informs me Mourinho will sign for Valencia in order to play at Barca and Madrid in the league," he added.

Jose Mourinho is reported to be very close to Valencia’s owner Peter Lim and a move to the Spanish club might just be the sort of challenge that the ‘special one’ requires to get the best out of himself.

Mourinho says he will be back as a manager in July

Jose Mourinho himself confirmed that he will be returning to management in July. The Portuguese manager is said to be annoyed by the fact that there has been no clear contact from Manchester United. Also, with Louis van Gaal reportedly set to stay for another year, Mourinho does not want to wait another year for the Premier League giants. He also admitted that he missed the action and was itching for a return to management.

“In July I will be back,” Mourinho told AP. “So we are in May. May to July is nothing. I keep enjoying my life which I'm doing, keep enjoying my family. But in July I am back.

“ Of course I miss it.”

Mourinho was concerned about the fact that July would be a slightly late appointment and he would not be able to get a full pre-season in.

“It's difficult because when you get a new club in this period normally the clubs have already done their work,” he said. “I'm not the Chelsea manager but I organised the Chelsea pre-season in many aspects because I did that 10 months ago.

“Clubs always have their commercial, marketing departments involved in everything. When a new manager arrives in May, June it's very difficult to touch in some points but we know that.

“Scouting is done during the year. We know everybody, so it's just a question of trying to choose the players that your team needs.”

Will Manchester United’s loss become Valencia’s gain? Only time will tell.
