Jose Mourinho's son on why he is a Barcelona fan

Jose Mourinho Jr supports five clubs in total

Jose Mourinho Jr. has confirmed himself as a supporter of Barcelona after posting pictures of himself wearing the Catalan club’s shirt on social media. The son of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho donned a Messi jersey in a couple of pictures he uploaded on Twitter, which gathered a lot of attention from football fans worldwide.

Jose Mourinho Jr.’s father has not been on good terms with Barcelona in the recent past, despite working at the Camp Nou as a translator with Sir Bobby Robson and as an assistant to Louis van Gaal. His son was born in the city during the Dutchman’s spell at the club, after which the Portuguese tactician went on to become one of the most successful managers in the world.

Mourinho came back to Spain after trophy-laden spells at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan but joined Barcelona’s rivals Real Madrid instead. This began a spell of hatred towards the Catalan club as he accused their players of acting, diving, and influencing referees.

He even publicly claimed that they were receiving preferential treatment because of the presence of a charity organization’s logo on their shirts.

A return to Chelsea for the Special One saw Jose Jr move to London and go on trial with Fulham. He earned a one-year contract after impressing at the club, following which he signed student terms with them. He currently plays in the Fulham U-16 team as a goalkeeper.

The 16-year-old has shown his support for various football clubs over the last couple of years such as Inter Milan, Fulham, Chelsea and Porto, so fans were left confused when he posted a picture announcing his support for the club. He went on to clear those doubts with an explanation on Twitter once again, outlining reasons for why he supports five clubs.

It is no surprise that the talented keeper supports Barcelona, as the club have been dominating Europe for over a decade. The Champions League win in 2015 was their fourth European title in ten years while his idol Messi has consistently been in stunning form since his arrival at the club. Their youth academy is one of the finest in the world, and they have also perfected a style of play that has made them hard to beat.

Mourinho Jr. also expressed his happiness with the weekend’s results on Twitter as Benfica lost, Barcelona beat Athletic Bilbao 1-0, Chelsea beat West Brom 3-2 and Real Madrid drew 0-0 at Sporting Gijon.
