Player ratings for Inter Milan

Samir Handanovic 9/10

Samir Handanovic, the busier of the two goalkeepers, singlehandedly thwarted Juventus to keep Inter Milan in the game.

He performed sensationally to deny Cristiano Ronaldo from scoring on several occasions and was quick to come off his line to make a stop.

Milan Skriniar 7/10

The Slovakian put in a solid performance and did a good job of covering for Hakimi, who was always high up the pitch. Milan Skriniar stood up against Bernardeschi but failed to adequately contain the threat of Ronaldo on the right flank.

Stefan de Vrij 7.5/10

The centre-back was Inter Milan’s standout defender. Stefan de Vrij was always in the right place at the right time. He also made a stunning block to deny Cristiano Ronaldo from opening the scoring for Juventus.

Alessandro Bastoni 5/10

Alessandro Bastoni struggled to keep up with Juventus full-back Danilo, who got the better of him more often than not. He was eventually replaced in the 66th minute.

Achraf Hakimi 6.5/10

The wing-back was one of Inter Milan’s best performers, as he ran at the Juventus defence. Achraf Hakimi had several glorious chances to open the scoring for the visitors but fluffed his finishes.

Nicolo Barella 7/10

It was a solid performance from Nicolo Barella, who is turning into a key player for the Nerazzurri under Antonio Conte. He showed great vision and creativity to link up well with his frontmen and was unlucky not to have scored the winner.

Marcelo Brozovic 6/10

The 28-year-old lacked the cutting edge to create anything meaningful for his attackers. However, Marcelo Brozovic diligently went about his defensive duties, winning three tackles and three interceptions. He was booked for a cynical tackle on Bentancur in the 73rd minute, though.

Matteo Darmian 5/10

The former Manchester United man was overrun by the tireless Juventus midfield. Matteo Darmian made several mistimed tackles and was hooked for a poor challenge on Cristiano Ronaldo in the 13th minute. He was Antonio Conte’s first change, as he made way for Ivan Perisic in the 58th minute.

Christian Eriksen 6.5/10

Christian Eriksen put up a solid outing against Juventus, as he kept the ball moving in the centre of the park for Inter Milan. He failed to make an impact on the game, though, and was replaced in the 66th minute.

Romelu Lukaku 6/10

It was a toothless performance from the Inter Milan striker. He was kept in check by the Juventus defenders.

Romelu Lukaku was limited to only one shot on target; but he created a glorious chance for Stefano Sensi, whose shot was blocked.

Lautaro Martinez 6/10

In a shadow of his first-leg performance, Lautaro Martinez failed to hit the target despite having several goal-scoring opportunities in the first half. He faded in the second, and failed to truly test Buffon.

Player ratings for Inter Milan substitutes

Ivan Perisic 5/10

Ivan Perisic was brought on for the disappointing Matteo Darmian but failed to produce the goods.

Stefano Sensi 6/10

Stefano Sensi replaced Christian Eriksen in the second half and almost grabbed a dramatic winner for Inter Milan.

Aleksandar Kolarov

Aleksandar Kolarov replaced central defender Alessandro Bastoni as Inter Milan threw men forward in search of a winner. He drilled in a few set-pieces but failed to change the outcome of the game against an inspired Juventus side.
