Liverpool are looking to compete the signings of Paris St. Germain’s Mamadou Sakho and Sporting Lisbon’s Tiago Ilori in the next 48 hours, according to BBC Sport.
The Merseyside club are believed to be in talks with both clubs and hope to reach agreements over the course of the weekend.
Centre-back Sakho can also provide cover at left-back. The 23-year-old, who has 14 senior caps for the French national team, is likely to cost around £13 million. Lisbon’s Ilori, 20, too is a centre-back and both defenders are expected at Melwood for medicals in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers is reportedly considering making a bid to take Chelsea winger Victor Moses to Anfield on a one-year loan deal as he looks to bolster his attacking options. Veteran Aston Villa keeper Shay Given has also been linked with a loan move to Liverpool to act as backup for Simon Mignolet.
