Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura has revealed that Chelsea defender and countryman David Luiz failed to convince him to move to the Blues, report the Express.

The west Londoners were strongly linked with the youngster and several of Europe’s biggest clubs were also interested in the former Sao Paulo midfielder before the Parisians agreed a £35 million deal to take him to France.

The 21-year-old has now revealed that Luiz tried to tempt him into a move to the English capital when the pair met up on international duty, although the centre-back’s efforts were in vain.

“David was very enthusiastic about Chelsea and if you follow anything of football these days you have to know they are a force to be reckoned with.

“But PSG had a project that looked quite interesting because they wanted to do something similar to what happened at Chelsea.

“And they also have a lot of Brazilians there,” he insisted.

Moura’s choice was surprising given that he had come through Sao Paulo’s ranks with Chelsea’s Oscar and he endured a difficult debut campaign in Europe.

However, he has now flourished into a key member of Laurent Blanc’s side and has hopes of a recall to Felipe Scolari’s Brazil squad ahead of the World Cup in the summer.

Lucas Moura has appeared in all but two of Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 fixtures this season.
