Manchester City could be in line for fresh sanctions from UEFA after perceived crowd trouble in their final group fixture against Scottish side, Celtic. According to various reports, fighting broke out between the supporters of both clubs, in the lower tier of the home section which was the closest to the Celtic’s travelling support.

Disturbing reports of 13 people being arrested have already been reported by the British newspaper, The Guardian and there is the possibility of the club facing further sanctions once UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body are done with their investigation.

There have been earlier sanctions against the club when they were fined for booing the Champions League anthem last season and although there have been no such actions this season; UEFA is surely not going to take this incident lightly.

Other reports have also emerged of a Celtic fan being arrested for throwing a hamburger at a police horse.

Off-field incidents though didn’t deter the performances on the pitch as Patrick Roberts, the 19-year-old on loan from City put the visitors ahead with a well-taken goal. The teenager showed the quality that led to City shelling out £11m in the summer of 2015.

When quizzed about the teenager’s potential, Pep Guardiola stated, “We know his quality. He has good qualities as a winger, one on one, he works defensively. He has good potential. We try to help our young players play every single week to see how they are going to develop.”

Former Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers currently managing, Celtic ensured that his side kept City at bay and did their best to trouble the City defence. The Scottish side turned up with a well-organised side and was pretty industrious. Rodgers is currently in the process of building a team and will take solace from the fact that the team did make an impression even if results haven’t gone their way.

His team set out to threaten a City side which contained youngsters such as Adarabioyo, Maffeo and Iheanacho and they succeeded in doing so. Celtic dominated the statistics chart with an impressive 16 shots with 6 of them on target.

Although the match was not much of a spectacle, it did serve up good moments. Guardiola summed up the game stating that it was an opportunity for the youngsters to make an impression stating, “It was a good experience for them. They deserved to play because they have trained well. Their behaviour is always perfect so I am so happy to give them the opportunity to play in the Champions League. The game was good for the spectators, both teams tried to attack. It was fun. It was a pleasure to play against Celtic."
