Manuel Pellegrini picked up his first win as a Manchester City manager as his side beat South China by a goal to nil. Bosnian striker Edin Dzeko scored for City as he headed in a James Milner cross in the 21st minute in their Barclays Asia Trophy clash held at the Hong Kong Stadium.
City moved into the tournament’s final and will contest for the title against fellow Premier League side Sunderland, who beat Tottenham 3-1.
City clearly dominated the game throughout, even though the scoreline did not reflect much of their efforts. Yaya Toure and new recruit Fernandinho came closest to adding to City’s one goal advantage with some well directed efforts.
