It was a night of spectacular footballing display for Pep Guardiola and his wards as they marched past Schalke in their round of 16 encounters in the UEFA Champions League which brings them another record in the book.

In the UCL, only Bayern Munich have won with seven goals in the round of 16 before a masterful performance from Guardiola's wards last night. And now, they have made it to the top 10 list of the biggest wins in UCL history.

The night kicked off with a lovely penalty kick from Sergio Aguero. He sent the keeper to the wrong side by simply chipping the ball for the go-ahead goal. A true masterclass act from the Argentinian who slotted his 41st goal in the competition.

Three minutes after, Aguero was on the receiving end of a lovely pass from Raheem Sterling. Sterling back-heeled the ball towards the Argentinian who slotted his second and his 42nd in the tournament as his shot went through the goalkeeper's legs.

From there, the floodgates were open as Leroy Sane scored his team's third goal on the 42nd minute after a lovely break away from the defense. Sterling also joined the party on the 56th minute through Sane's lovely pass towards his path.

Bernardo Silva got a taste of a goal on the 71st minute after being the recipient of Sane's second assist in the match before newcomer Phil Foden converted a goal after making the keeper commit for a dive.

Not only have they dominated the goals department, but they were also on target as well for most of their shots. A staggering 15 shots on goal with 11 of them on target shows how deadly this side can be.

They've also shown their passing prowess as their passing accuracy is at 92% in this match. And it would not be a Guardiola show if not for the possession gaming of his team. Dominating the ball for 72% of the entire match, it clearly showed City are on their way to a dominant 2019 and a step closer to the UEFA Champions League glory.

They will now wait for the final results of the remaining round of 16 matches between FC Barcelona and Lyon, and Liverpool and Bayern Munich to complete the cast of the last eight. Once completed, a draw will determine who they will face next.

Regardless of who they will be facing, their opponents will definitely have a hard time facing them if they continue this run of form. They currently lead in the league and things are looking well for Guardiola's side.
