Manchester City sign Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero from Malaga

Willy Caballero becomes Manchester City’s 3rd signing of the summer

Argentine Willy Caballero has become Manchester City’s third signing of the season. The 32-year old joins the EPL champions from Malaga after signing a three-year deal with the club. The Argentine will become the third keeper and will compete with Joe Hart for the starting position while Richard Wright will be the third goalkeeper.

“I am very happy, and really looking forward to the start of pre-season and performing well to help the team,” said Caballero

“This is a new challenge and a new league for me. I have been doing well in the previous years and my goal is to go on and hopefully perform at the same level for City”.

“I know I am coming to a big club with a very good goalkeeper. City already has a great goalkeeper in Joe Hart, but I will try and compete for the no.1 spot. I will do my best in the training sessions,” said the Argentine.

Caballero, who became the latest signing for Manchester City, moved to Spain to play for Malaga in 2004 after starting his career with Boca Juniors.

The 32 year old created a record during his stint with Malaga as he didn't concede a goal for 480 minutes and also gained the experience of playing in Champions League.

Caballero who had earlier played under Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini at Malaga, was happy to get the chance to play for the Chilean once again.

“The most beautiful moments of my career were under Manuel Pellegrini in Malaga, where we achieved big things and we made Malaga’s name known around Europe,” said the Argentine.

“But I also like the way he works, I think his best quality is giving players the confidence to achieve their potential,” added Caballero.
